Boundaries.....

Of late i have acquired this habit of reading which is good 'Thirst for knowledge'.... not just any random romantic novels, but actually motivational books, internet and doing lots of reflection about my life. Currently am reading the book 'Boundaries' by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend - a gift from my mum (you know those books your mum gives you when leaving home.. yes... i decided to be a good girl and read).....and this got me thinking what kind of life do i live. Do i live as i would die tomorrow or i live by saving up for things i will do later in life or tomorrow?? Do i define what i like or i do the norm to impress other?? Am i living my life or in the shadow of my parents?? Do i say yes to everything even without thinking twice just to impress others even when i know its wrong?? Do i ever have time for myself or i only have time for everyone else except me??

Many questions?? Huh

I dont thinks so...... all this can be defined in one word 'Boundaries'. The world has been set by the society norms, that we live in and our lifes have been set in how we have been brought up in our familes. But the greatest thing we pocess as young individuals is the power of 'choices.' We can choose what to do, what to become, why to become that because at the end of the day it makes YOU HAPPY and its your life.
This brings me to my next question how many of my friends, or you reading, do u know what makes you happy and what u want to become?? For me i know....... i never said it out loud but all kinds of relationships i have make me happy ie. my family, friends and God. That simply makes me happy, and i love life. What i want to do in life is clear and EVERYDAY i am contibuting to my overall career. I have developed a passion for developmental issues affecting our society, so if i can do it in the area of raising funds (finance) for such projects that is my career desire. My soul will be at rest. Do you know what u want to do??? The choice is yours. To be honest its not that easy knowing what u want, or desire out of life but once you know it... you live it everyday and its an exiting moment and you start living life to the full.

'Setting boundaries inevitably involves taking responsibility for your choices. You are the one who makes them. You are the one who must live with their consequences. And you are the one who may be keeping yourself from making the choices you could be happy with.' - Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

Am happy with what am doing...... are you.

Kisses.

I just had to post it...

I know i have not been good n keeping u posted in my very entertaining life here in Thailand so this is definately going to be a long one so be patient ul get an in-depth of what has kept me quiet for a while. And i will change my picture all those who complained. Thanks for confirming i can look better.;-) ;-)

You know its so nice when new members are born in your family it bring joy and happiness. My niece Muthoni Gachango, just gave birth to the cutest, most handsome son that for sure makes me a Granny....... am growing old..... but Laura (my team mate) would say his my great cousin. Congrats Muthoni for making me a granny so soon. (Pictures are refusing to upload so catch him on my msn)

The SPARK conference, the past week was crazy crazy crazy, lots of planning and training on our First National Conference here in Thailand. I must say we had a time pressured filled week but for sure we gave our best to the conference. We surely did SPARK and got our members fired up. Turn out was low but the conference was definately a success.

About Thailand. I love this place and there many Public Holidays. Last week we had a half day chinese day celebration where u reflect about your year, the goals set in life and all. Then on Saturday we had Mother's Day celebration. The Queen's birthday. This is a very special day where u appreciate ur mother, the Queens pictures were hanging around on Bill Boards around Bangkok. Jasmine flowers is a symbolic flower given to mothers.
The Royal family is very respected, loved, honoured and adored by all Thai's. In fact most Thai above 96% would die for their king than anyone else in their family. This is because of the great things the King has done for the development of Thailand. The Kings colour is Yellow so dont be suprised when you come to Thailand and find many people wearing yellow its the Kings colour and the Queens colour is Blue. I truely find it amazing how a whole nation would love the Royal family so deeply. The Agwambos of Kenya are not anywhere near this kind of love.
So back to my holidays so Monday the 14th August 2006, was a public holiday. We went out of town to P'Pui's (Former MCP 2001/3) home, its was for celbration of her birthday and she cooked for us. Aah we ate till we could eat no more, had fun with other AIESEC Alumi and Krista (Canadian AIESECer). Visited one of the Chinese Temples and I performed a ritual where i made a wish and had to get a card depending on the number i got. To cut the whole story short it was a good wish all i have to do is be patient.

Thats about it ooh before i forget can u imagine i had Deep Fried Ice Cream.............IMAGINE.........it actually exists. Ooh n another shocking thing is that you can have Ice Cream with Sticky rice, mango, pineapple and chocolate syrup all this for only Ksh.20. You wouldnt need Java with this.

Thats it for now. I will be posting regularly so i dont forget stories to tell you.

PS. Its year 2549 in Thailand. Which is 543 years ahead. Thai's follow the Buddist Era calendar. (Shocked)

Kisses.

Am truely overwhelmed by your response and the number of people veiwing my New Purple like looking blog. I really find this quite facinating........... but its obvious their are some people rubbing off on me hard.

Anyway today we went through the making of good session and what it entails and its very interesting when secrets of all session expectations are revealed. Thanks to Rob, Pui and Laura for making the training very interactive.

Am sure ur all wondering session flow for what??? Well AIESEC in Thailand, Year of the Pheonix MC TEAM 2006/7 is currently organizing powerful Induction Conference for the members who joined in June. The Conference is called SPARK-Get Fired Up!!! We are truely planning to get the members motivated and energised to know the power of AIESEC.
Am very excited and looking forward to meeting all the AIESEC Thailand members. :-) ;-)

Those are the basic updates of my work life now let get a glimpse of my social or rather other life of living in Thailand.

Now for sure ul all be shocked am doing quite well with chopstix and learning fast to use them but not the Chinese way. Am a fast learner so by the time am back home il be a guru.
Getting used to the spicy food and my favourite meal is (Part-C-U) thats not the Thai spelling but its Fried Noodles, chicken mixed with vegies and fried egg. I like it Pet Noy Noy (Little Spicy). Trust me by the time am back i will be fat am really eatting. About the Tea, not yet used but Laura might rub off on me coz she is so in love with them. Learning how to speak some Thai with the help of Pui especially how to order food, getting to places.......... by the time am done here i will be able to communicate with some Thai.... :-)
The other thing is shopping, people shop any time any day and there are thousands of shopping malls here.
We might soon be moving to the city will keep u posted. Thinking of moving into a big house which can accomodate us and the AIESEC Office. Although i l miss my Kenyan Empire my small room :-(.
Ooh yes the mode of transport there buses, Matatus (vans), Sky Train (Only in the city centre) its totally different from the Matatus and City Hoppers. Imagine they matatus dont have conductors u pass the money to the driver infront..... n pple dont steal its quite an honest society.
Yes i think i should sambaza (share equally) some heat back to Kenya, here its hot hot humid but better than India by far, Most houses have AC or funs but the worst is the Sky Train when u enter its freezing cold. During the day its ok when u enter but at night its too cold.
I was also jazzed to findout university student wear SKUL UNIFORM......(haha) u can easily confuse them for highskul students but the Freshers have to wear white shoes n sock aki they look very very funny.

Now you have a small glimpse of some of the things in have been noticing but il keep you posted on my new discoveries of 'THE CITY OF ANGELS - Bangkok'.

PS. Did you know in Switzerland the Executive Parliament is made up of SEVEN (7) Presidents who all rule the counrty together.

Discoveries Nakwambia (I tell you)

Cheers and kisses.
